Robert Reynolds Jones Sr. (October 30, 1883 – January 16, 1968) was a Methodist evangelist, the founder and first president of what became Bob Jones University. The eleventh of twelve children born to a Confederate veteran from southeastern Alabama, Jones became a noted evangelist after the turn of the twentieth century, founding the nondenominational Bob Jones College in 1927. Jones led the college in the creation and growth of three campuses: in Lynn Haven, Florida; Cleveland, Tennessee; and Greenville, South Carolina. He relinquished the presidency in 1947 in favor of his son, Bob Jones Jr.
